Yes! Ultrasound therapy is an alternative to laser therapy. Laser uses light waves, and ultrasound uses ultrasonic waves to treat acute and chronic injuries, sprains, strains, arthritis, and other musculoskeletal issues. It does this by increasing blood circulation, reducing inflammation and pain, increasing range of motion, and promoting healing deep within the tissue. Ultrasound therapy can soften scar tissue, and promote regeneration of healthy new tissue. Learn more here

Bleeding gums are a sign of gingivitis, a early stage of periodontal disease and should not be ignored. Even if the teeth don’t appear to be affected, gingivitis provides a pathway for bacteria to enter the bloodstream and travel to the heart, liver, and kidneys, potentially causing damage and infections. These dogs need to be started right away on an effective oral hygiene protocol with the emmi®-Pet ultrasonic toothbrush! Learn more here

The emmi®-Pet’s ultrasonic waves reduce inflammation and pain associated with the procedure, particularly extractions. It promotes healing, reduces scar tissue, and kills bacteria, which helps prevent infection at the extraction site. Studies show that plaque begins accumulating within 3 months after veterinary cleaning, therefore it is essential to start preventive care to prevent future dental disease. Learn more here.

The frequency with which emmi®-Pet is used to remove plaque/tartar depends on the condition of the dog's gums and teeth. For dogs with moderate to advanced indications of dental disease (plaque and tartar buildup, gingivitis), a veterinary scale and polish is recommended. For dogs that are at high risk for anesthesia, treatments should be weekly at minimum, preferably daily. Dogs with mild to moderate dental disease should be treated weekly, bi-weekly at minimum. Once a dog’s teeth are completely clean with no signs of dental disease, maintenance can be done with monthly treatments. Some breeds are prone to dental disease and may require more frequent treatments. Each dog/pet has individual needs and should be treated more often if needed to maintain healthy teeth and gums. The focus should be on the individual pet's problem areas. Our comprehensive training course covers these scenarios and teaches you how to recognize the stages of dental disease.

Acclimating your pet to the emmi®-Pet is relatively simple because the emmi®-Pet ultrasonic toothbrush for pets is entirely silent and motionless. With a bit of practice, patience, and reward, teeth cleaning and care through positive conditioning works quickly and well for most dogs. Take your time and be patient with your four-legged friend. If your dog resists, it may be due to prior experience or the fact that the animal has already developed painful periodontitis, causing discomfort when the gums are touched. In this case, it is advisable to consult the attending veterinarian. Our training courses teach you methods to acclimate your pet to the emmi®-Pet.

While regular use of the emmi®-Pet can prevent dental disease, it does not replace veterinary visits and checkups. Regular use of the emmi®-Pet can reduce the need for veterinary prophylaxis and is often recommended by veterinarians for preventative care and maintenance, and for pets who are at risk for anesthesia. Pets with severe dental disease require immediate attention and should undergo a veterinary scale and polish, if possible and safe to do so. Then preventative care with emmi®-Pet can begin to avoid future dental disease, damage, and unnecessary anesthesia.
